Year 11 EAL Excursion
On Friday the 25th of August, the Year 11 EAL (English as an Additional Language) classes went on an excursion. We walked an ate lunch in the city, then enjoyed the ‘Suitcases’ presentation at the Immigration Museum.
The Immigration Museum was a great experience. It was my first time being there and I learnt a lot about the variation in immigrants who made Australia their new home I think the best part of the excursion was when we got to investigate the story of the Jewish-Russian immigrant who ended up changing his name to Sydney Meyers and was the owner of the first ever Mayer store in Bendigo.
It was a pretty good chance to learn a lot of history about this city, people’s personal stories.
This excursion let us understand how difficult the life was and to enjoy our own lives.
We had an EAL excursion last Friday, to the Immigration museum to study about how the immigrants came to Australia and the reason they came. After this experience, I learned that many people came to Australia because of the Gold Rush in the 1850s.
