Year 12 Transition
The Year 12 transition excursion began with everyone meeting by the bus bays at 8:30 on a Friday morning.
The excitement in the air was palpable, not only was this effectively our first day as Strathmore’s year 12s, but the first day, of a year’s worth, of free dress.
By 9:30, we were all gathered on our buses, wondering what the day, and in fact the entire year, held in store for us.
We arrived at La Trobe University, Bundoora and were made to congregate in Agora Auditorium. Although it was hot and stuffy in the lecture hall, we all listened intently to our speaker, Sarah, advise us on the importance of year 12, as well as the differences between La Trobe and some other Universities. We then heard from past Strathmore students speaking of their experiences as year 12s and sharing with us some of their successful study tips.
After Mr Alexander impressed on us our responsibilities as the seniors of the school, two of La Trobe’s students/workers toured groups of us around the campus, pointing out different buildings along the way. We were then excused for lunch.
As lunchtime ended, we gathered once more to begin our walk to Latitude. Everyone spent a good two hours jumping around on the trampolines, rock climbing, completing the obstacle course and having the time of our lives.
Our excursion drew to a close and we were whisked back to Strathmore excited for the year ahead.
