Student Support Services Team (SSST) Roles and Responsibility

Student Support Services Team is made up of a number of specialist staff responsible for supporting students, families, Student Co-ordinators, Team managers and Staff in general. The key role of all SSST is Student engagement and Wellbeing.

Student Support Services Co-ordinator
  • Supporting the role of the area co-ordinators, clarifying processes and delivery of services to students and families.
  • Improving links and communication across SSST and with Student Co-ordinators and Team Leaders.
  • Exploring and initiating professional learning for targeted staff

1. Student Wellbeing (Counselling Support & Referrals)

The Wellbeing Team plays a crucial role in:
  • Developing systems and supports to prevent issues from arising and minimising harm. Prevention takes many forms including; a range of programs on offer to build student leadership – programs such as boot camp, student council.
  • Intervening when support is necessary either for individual students or families or for groups of students. Counselling is available for a range of concerns.

2. Careers & Pathways – Lauren Vincent 

Careers staff role within the Student Services Team is the development and implementation of Careers, Pathways and Vocational Education programs. The Careers, Pathways and Vocational Education role encompasses a range of activities including:
  • Individual counselling of students in relation to their career development and pathway options.
  • Co-ordination of the Vocational Education Training in Schools (VETiS) program.
  • Co-ordinating Work Experience.
  • The provision of a comprehensive careers resource centre.

3. Students with Special Needs –
Tracy Holland

• Co-ordinate, deliver and provide access to education for students who have a variety of disabilities.
• Liaising with parents and run Student Support Group meetings on a regular basis.
• Liaise with Visiting Teacher Service for hearing and visual impaired students

4. Students with Learning Difficulties –
Sophie Pantelidis

Sophie handles all referrals from Student Coordinators/Team leaders and parents relating to any potential learning difficulty. This involves:
  • Locating information and data including PAT tests results, NAPLAN data, and information from teachers and coordinators.
  • Selecting which students are eligible for the learning support programs in years 7 - 10.
  • Participating in school transition visits for grade 6 students school and attending meetings for students with very high needs as part of the hand over process.
  • Attending meetings and supporting staff to write up their component of “individual learning plans” (ILPs) and following up with Coordinators and staff to ensure students are being supported.
