As is usually the case, Semester 1 has flashed by, and winter is upon us. The days are short and the weather chilly. Our school community is ready for a break, to be re-energised for the second, challenging half of the year.
The school concert was, as we have come to expect, outstanding. Perhaps it is worth reflecting that those of us who have attended these concerts regularly may have become a little blasé. A first-time audience member who attended the concert on Tuesday evening was thoroughly impressed by both the variety and comprehensiveness of the program, and the adventurous choice of musical styles. She commented on the professionalism and discipline displayed by the performers and their leaders, and the obvious commitment of the school to the Arts. She also enjoyed the patter of our two young comperes.
I add my congratulations to all who contributed and my appreciation of the dedication and hard work of the Music Faculty members.
Strathmore Secondary College is committed to delivering a world class education to its students. Thus, the school community was delighted when the Victorian Government announced a 13.8 million upgrade to our buildings to be undertaken during the remainder of 2018 and into 2019. On Thursday 3rd May, following the formal announcement, the Premier Daniel Andrews, Member for Essendon Danny Pearson and Member for Pascoe Vale Lizzie Blandthorn, visited the school to help celebrate.
This funding will enable us to build a three-story building, the first stage of the Strathmore Secondary College master plan. We see this up-grade as a welcome and timely enhancement of the school’s capacity to deliver its high performance teaching and learning program.
Once again, I wish you a satisfying, energising and safe break.
