Relocatable Buildings Update
Update on status of relocatable buildings at Strathmore Secondary College
I confirmed in a recent newsletter that the Department of Education, in conjunction with VicRoads and Transurban, have collectively secured funding of $2.79M to help mitigate the ongoing issues our school community has been concerned about since the CityLink Tulla Widening Project began construction near the school in late 2015.
You may have noticed that the works have commenced on the oval to enable the 3 new double-storey relocatable classrooms to be moved onsite so that the 6 single story relocatables closest to the new Bell St Bridge can be moved away from the proposed road.
The science relocatable was moved in the holidays and is now adjacent to the main science building.
The new double-storey classrooms are state of the art, and will help better manage some of the ongoing traffic related noise caused by the construction of the off-ramp CityLink bridge currently under construction near the school. The new relocatables will be in place and work completed by late August.
VicRoads has agreed to continue to fund alternate venues and associated costs for Physical Education classes impacted by the project and relocatable works during Term 3, 2016. The amount they have committed for this is $10,000.
