2017 Australian Mathematics Competition
On Thursday 28th July 2016 56 students from Year 7 to Year 11 Competed in the Australian Mathematics Competition.
The test consisted of 30 questions of varying difficulty across a broad range of mathematical topics.
From the cohort that sat the test we received:
27 Credit awards
9 Distinction awards
3 High Distinction awards and 1 student was awarded a Prize.
Our Prize recipient was Year 11 student Abraham Zhang. To receive a prize for the Australian Mathematics Competition you must be placed in the top 0.3% in your year level of your region.
As a result of receiving such an outstanding score, Abraham was invited to attend an awards ceremony at Wesley College on Friday 18th November.
Abraham's result is the highest achieved in recent history at Strathmore Secondary College.
Overall an amazing effort achieved by Mathematics students at Strathmore and we hope to improve on these fine results in future competitions.
