Design and Technology Week
Design and Technology Week took place at Strathmore during the dates of October 15th to 21st. During this week, the Design and Technology and Arts Faculty teachers came together to run some exciting lunch time activities to celebrate all things DESIGN!
On Monday, in collaboration with Jewellery Club, there was a Glass Bead Making Masterclass where students learnt how to manipulate glass to create intricate, colourful beads.
On Tuesday the Food Technology department ran a “The Secrets of Churros Making” masterclass where students were able to watch a demonstration of Churros in the making and were able to taste test the delicious goodies as well!
On Wednesday in collaboration with Art Club, students were able to trial a very modern drawing board which showed students how easy and fun 3D drawing can be with the right tools!
Thursday was parent/teacher interviews.
And finally, on Friday, there was a teacher and student Catapult Competition, where everyone was given time to create their own catapult using provided objects (paddle pop sticks, rubber bands, hot glue guns, etc) and groups competed for longest catapult throw (for laser cut prizes!).
During the week, staff at SSC were sent daily quizzes about Design in the world and winning teachers received some fun prizes!
All in all the week was a fun filled success and it wouldn’t have worked out as well as it did without the support of staff and students at SSC!
