Chisholm Junior Camp
In a classic ‘save the best for last’ move, Chisholm took the final timeslot of this year’s junior camps. A little rain on the first night disrupted plans but didn’t dampen spirits and we all enjoyed a cosy movie night (once we realized the Grease DVD wasn’t coming up on the projector because it was actually the Grease soundtrack).
With an equal-largest group of 127 students, the cooks had their work cut out for them and the students had to pay close attention to the Two Minute Shower rule. Thankfully, the Chisholm year 7’s and 8’s are a bunch of champions. They had a really great time and made life relatively easy for the staff who generously gave up their time to go along.
It was fantastic to see students challenging themselves and step (sometimes leap) outside their comfort zones. Our year ten student leaders are also to be commended for their role, running a hilarious trivia night and generally helping the camp run smoothly.
A few highlights from the students’ perspective:
“Mr St George kept arguing the toss when we were running trivia, and he took our lollies. We think we did really well just to maintain order.” – Year 10 Leaders
“Can I do it (the Giant Swing) again!?” – Gabo Olivier-Hernandez
“Sir, how long does it take for shoes to dry? Will I be able to wash these before dinner?” – Rami Sarraj
