Burnet Institute – Day of Immunology Discovery
On the 26th of April, Burnet Institute celebrated the 2018 Day of Immunology by opening their laboratory doors to give interested members of the public new insights into their immunological research.
The Burnet Institute is located in Melbourne and named after Australia’s most famous scientist Macfarlane Burnet. The Institute conducts cutting edge research to achieve better health outcomes for poor and vulnerable communities in Australia and internationally.
Ten year nine and ten Burnet Team students were invited to attend. They were treated to a Discovery Tour of Burnet’s Fluorescent Cell Imaging and Flow Cytometry facilities, and Rapid Diagnostics Laboratory.
The tour included an informative discussion with Burnet Institute’s young scientists about their latest work to develop new treatments and vaccines, and to understand the development of immunity for diseases of global significance.
Our students were enthusiastic and captivated, they conducted themselves brilliantly. I was a very proud team leader!
