Annual Music Department Band Ensemble Day
On Sunday November 13th students involved in the College Band Program performed for their parents and families at the 14th Band Ensemble Day.
The Year 7 Band Ensemble started the day playing to an appreciative audience. The audience was even more appreciative when they watched a very short video clip of the band’s first rehearsal this year and then listened to the band playing after one year’s work – what progress!!!! The Year 8 Band Ensemble followed and, with a great performance, certainly demonstrated the merits of learning an instrument for 2 years.
Café Corner (in the school caf) was the venue for some smaller ensembles such as the Junior Flutes, the French Horns and the Double Reed Ensemble. The Junior Improvisation Band along with the new 2017 line-ups of the D13 and M1 Big Bands also provided fantastic entertainment in Café Corner. Parents enjoyed a coffee and snack in the caf as they listened to the music.
The day, as is tradition, finished with a performance by the fantastic college Concert Band.
