SSV State Track and Field Championships

The State Track and Field Championships was held on Monday the 23rd of October at Lakeside Stadium. After the Moonee Valley and Western Metropolitan Rounds we had four students progress through, Hugh Snowden, Aidan Canham, Milly Andrew and Austin Ganino.

Hugh (Yr 11) has represented Strathmore Secondary College multiple times at the State Track and Field Championships. This year he progressed and competed in the 200m. It was a very competitive race with only .15 of a second between 1st and 4th. Hugh finished 4th in a time of 23.11 seconds.

Milly (Yr 10) progressed through to the State Track and Field Championships for the first time as a Strathmore Secondary student. She competed in the 1500m in the U16 age group. Milly ran a brilliant race from start to finish and crossed the line 10th in a time of 5 minutes and 40 seconds.

Aidan Canham (Yr 10) progressed through to the State Track and Field Championships for the second time in four years. He has worked really hard to get to the level of fitness he is at, progressing through in the 400m. Aidan ran a strong race placing 4th in a time of 54.08 seconds.

Austin Ganino (Yr 7) also progressed through to the State Track and Field Championships for the first time as a Strathmore Secondary student in the 200m. Due to injury he did not compete on the day.

These students’ achievements are remarkable and a credit to the hard work they put in outside of school training to better their performances. We are so proud of their achievements and look forward to continue to see them achieve excellent results.
