Year 7 Science
Werribee Open Range Zoo Excursion
On Friday the 24th of March Science students from 7A1 and 7C2 attended an excursion to the Werribee Open Range Zoo as part of their Biology unit.
The objectives of the day where to twofold: Firstly to investigate differences within and between groups of animals, using classification to help organise this diversity. Secondly to study the interactions between plants and animals in terms of food chains and food webs and how this can be affected by human activity.
Students undertook fieldwork involving studying the behaviour of a chosen animal in its habitat and completed a workshop entitled "Eat or be Eaten". The students are currently in the process of putting together a documentary analysis the findings of their fieldwork.
We would like to thank Ms Jo Norrish and Mr Michael Pakakis for volunteering to come and assist with supervision on the day.
