The beginning of a new year is always full of promise and expectation. What can we accomplish and how best can we achieve it? In what ways will we be able to build on the achievements of 2016 to make 2017 at least as successful or even better?
The 2016 Year 12 results were highly pleasing. As was reported earlier, 15% of our students obtained an ATAR of over 90, placing them in the top 10% of the state, while 35% achieved over 80, in the top 20%.

Following on from this, we were delighted that 95% of those students who wished to continue to tertiary studies received a first round tertiary offer. Most students whose talents led them in non-tertiary directions were also satisfied.
As we look forward to this year, I wish to welcome all teachers, students and parents, especially those joining us for the first time. Strathmore Secondary College’s motto is Palladem Alite, which suggests that it nurtures and values not only academic success but strives to develop students’ sense of self-worth and responsibility, while encouraging the ideals of tolerance, respect, excellence, honesty and care. In this spirit, I wish the Strathmore College Community the very best for a happy and rewarding year.
