SUPPORT PROGRAMS
English as a Second Language (ESL) Program
The College has developed a number of programs to support our overseas students’ learning of English. Our English as a Second Language (ESL) program includes:
- Timetabled Year 11 and 12 ESL classes
- Small group tuition for all students identified as requiring ESL assistance
- Extra individual support for some ESL students
- Mainstream English classes for advanced ESL students
- A teacher aide who supports new students in a variety of subjects
Some overseas students who need even more English tuition choose to attend the local English Language Centre for 10 to 20 weeks before they come to Strathmore Secondary College.
Support Services for International Students
A range of support services are available to International Students enrolled at Strathmore Secondary College. These include:
- An Overseas Student Coordinator who oversees support for each
international student
- Airport reception
- Home stay placement
- Interpreter service
- Medical information
- Orientation program into the school
- Advice on new or second-hand uniforms and books
