The Strathmore Secondary College Library exists to foster learning and creativity within the school. This service is offered to both students and staff and supported by an underlying infrastructure of skilled professional staff, adequate technology platforms, a well rounded collection and appropriate online resources.
Our library is an integral element to the school offering opportunities of development in all subject areas to equip individuals with a well rounded knowledge base. The library holds over 22,000 items including journals, novels, picture books, graphic novels, audio books, reference materials, class sets, information books, audio visual equipment and a VCE collection to support the senior students. And it also holds 12 months in paper form of The Age, The Australian and Herald Sun.
It is open for the college community from 8.00am – 4.00pm Monday – Friday. Staff, classes and individual students are able to use the Library during this time and students are able to use the space for study and recreation with no interruption from timetabled classes during recess and lunchtimes.
Within the library, there are 18 multi-media, Internet linked desktop computers available for class and individual student use. In addition, there are currently 24 wireless laptops available for senior student use within the library. Our electronic library catalogue (AMLIB) is accessed via 4 dedicated computers and used for students and staff to locate materials held by the library.
Digital cameras (with memory cards), data projectors, digital video cameras, CD players, and cubic speakers for use with laptops are available and we also provide access for staff and students to a colour A3 photocopier / printer / scanner and an additional B/W photocopier.
