‘Why Study Japanese?” Day at Monash University
On Friday, May 6, 31 students of Year 9 Japanese attended a day of performances, demonstrations and speeches aimed at encouraging them to continue and persevere with their language learning. Japanese drumming, kimono dressing and styling, calligraphy, traditional dance, karate and speeches by people working in a range of fields kept the students entertained and a good day was had by all.
This is what some of the students had to say:
“It was an amazing and eye-opening experience that definitely made me consider new career paths.”
“John made me realise that I want to have a life that has Japan incorporated in it.”
“Listening to other people’s experience and learning about culture was motivating and fascinating. Jason was the best.”
“It opened my eyes to the all the opportunities….”
“The drums were cool.”
