Year 10 Political and Legal Studies Excursion
On Tuesday 17th May Ms Pratt’s Political and Legal Studies class visited the Melbourne Magistrates Court and the Old Melbourne Gaol as part of our study of the justice system.
The students were able to see three criminal cases at the court, and after lunch they visited the Old Melbourne Gaol. They had a great tour by David from the National Trust who explained how the justice system has changed since the Gaol was operational, showed them the spot Ned Kelly was hanged, engaged in a conversation about capital punishment, and even rewarded them for their excellent behaviour with some spooky ghost stories from the facility.
