Intermediate Boys Basketball
On Tuesday the 23rd of September, the Intermediate Boys Basketball team travelled to Coburg Stadium to contest the Moonee Valley District championships.
The boys have shown a commitment to their training and prepared themselves very well for the day.
Their first match was a tense affair against a well-drilled Rosehill Secondary where the Strathmore boys were able to build a commanding lead and hold on to that lead to claim victory. The second and third games our boys were far too good for their opposition Mount Alexander College and Sirius respectively, and recorded comprehensive victories to finish top of the pool.
In the grand final we met Essendon Keilor College, who were also undefeated, in what would be the most hard-fought and entertaining match of the day. Strathmore scored first with a big 3 pointer to Connor Ogilvie that was matched shortly after by his opposing player. It was the first and only time EKC were able to draw level with Strathmore as the boys played a composed brand of basketball, taking their shots when the opportunity presented and maintaining a committed defensive structure. When the final whistle sounded, the Strathmore Intermediate Boys had won the penultimate match and will progress through to the next division.
