The Principal and the School Council have allowed Mr Shevchuk to organise a one off special camp to Tasmania this year in the last school week of Term 3. This is a ‘special’ camp because all year levels have the opportunity to participate. This means Year 8s, Year 9s and Year 10s will be attending. Normally, Junior School students have separate camps from Middle School. This year, we’re all going!
Based on the success of last year’s Tasmania trip, it was decided that Burnet would, for the second time, head south. Plans are well underway, with an exhausting itinerary planned for the five days away, and an already larger than expected ‘expression of interest’ from students has been registered.
The trip is designed to cater for the interests of all students with a vast array of attractions that range from jet boat rides, Cadbury factory tours, historical tours of Tasmania’s heritage (Port Arthur), visit to the wildlife park at ‘ZooDoo’ (the ‘hands-on’ zoo experience), a trip to the Maritime Museum in Hobart, art exhibits, visit to the town of Beaconsfield and as we travel around, we experience the natural beauty of Tasmania from the comfortable seats of our air-conditioned bus.
On the homeward stretch, we will be return on the ‘Spirit of Tasmania’ - an exciting adventure within itself.
We look forward to the trip as it seems to be the perfect way to celebrate the years of Team Burnet and a fantastic reward for all the students who have made Burnet what it is.
We would like to thank all those who have helped make this trip an approaching reality and look forward to reporting back once the 2009 Burnet Tasmania Trip is underway.
