Each year, when captains are nominated and chosen, several qualities are taken into consideration. Some of these are whether they have shown continuous participation and commitment to their respective sports during their 6 years here at the college. We look at whether they have demonstrated responsibility toward coaches and leadership amongst their team mates. We also consider whether these students are capable of shouldering the responsibility of extra duties addition to academic studies.

What they are able to gain from their role is irreplaceable experience in player management, team selections, scoring, umpiring, controlled coaching and interaction with experienced sport staff. They are also speakers and presenters at the end of year sport award presentation night.
